There are so many exciting opportunities to explore and fully enjoy the wide variety of slopes in the Gastein Valley. Skis and snowboards are of course constant companions on and off the paved slopes. A new trend invites you to breathtaking, adrenaline-charged action on two wheels. Speed through Gastein on a snowbike and discover the winter sports region in a different way.
Skids instead of wheels
Incidentally, snowbiking comes from Salzburg and is already over 70 years old in its original form. The Hallein ski manufacturer Engelbert Brentner dared the first seated ride on the Dürrnberg in March 1949. Since then, the curiosity has developed into a gripping fun sport. The wheels known from mountain bikes are being replaced by runners, and small skis are worn on your feet. This ensures the necessary stability. Nevertheless, every beginning is difficult, especially for less experienced cyclists. And yet the snow bike makes Gastein a winter paradise for non-skiers too.
Snowbike courses for beginners
Balancing on the bike and conjuring up slightly different turns in the snow is quite unusual at first. Several ski schools in the wide valley therefore offer their own courses and workshops for aspiring snowbikers, regardless of age and level of experience. Equipped with a bike and short cavern, you can hit the slopes. Braking, stopping and carving around corners are quickly learned. After a half-day intensive course, you can go to the next driveway. In addition, the snow bike can be transported on all Gastein mountain railways.
Did you already know that snowbiking supports the spine and reduces back pain? That is just one of the many exciting advantages of this trend discipline. Combine your winter holiday at Hotel Steindlwirt with this action-packed experience – we will be happy to create one for you non-binding offer !
