A path along the river leads in a quarter of an hour with a very slight gradient to the junction in the direction of the two Astenalmen. The view of the mountain giants and the wide valley of the Hohe Tauern National Park is fantastic.
Playgrounds and petting zoo for kids
The hike to the Astenalm is popular with families not only because of the relatively short distance and pleasant topography, because the children can really let off steam on both alpine pastures. At the Upper Astenalm there is a playground for smaller children, at the Lower Astenalm there is also a children’s playground and a petting zoo. While the parents stop in one of the huts and enjoy regional, home-made delicacies, there is plenty of action for the little ones.
