The Alpe Adria cycle path around the Steindlwirt
In one week from the city of Salzburg to Grado on the Italian Adriatic coast – a dream for cyclists. The Alpe Adria cycle path makes it possible! Eight exciting stages and approx. 410 km lead across the Austrian-Italian border and connect two attractive holiday regions. As a Steindlwirt guest you are in the midst of holiday happiness on two wheels or enjoy relaxing overnight accommodations in Dorfgastein on your way to the Adriatic!
The Alpe Adria cycle path at a glance
Launched in 2012, the long-distance cycle route between the city of Salzburg and Grado in Friuli-Venezia Giulia quickly developed into one of the most popular European cycle tours ever and received many awards. Eight attractive stages – which can even be completed in three days depending on your fitness level – lead through regions that are mostly well developed for tourism, with innumerable rest stops and accommodations along the way. Approximately 410 kilometers run on mostly paved roads with a few dirt roads in between.
Thanks to the uncomplicated train connection, even mighty Alpine passes and the Tauern lock can be bridged quickly and easily. This means that the Ciclovia Alpe Adria cycle path (in Italy also marked as FVG1 – Friuli-Venezia Giulia 1) can be completed without any problems even for hobby cyclists.
Our tip: Do not tackle the tour in August, as it can get very hot in the Po Valley around Grado.
